The Nguni is the traditional cattle breed of the Zulu people of South Africa. The hides of the Nguni come in a large number of patterns with varying amounts of black, brown and white. The hide shown here is known as a tri-colour.
Nguni hides are characterised by short, glossy even length hair and a thin flexible hide. This makes the Nguni ideal for floor rugs and for draping on lounges and chairs. The short hair length makes them very easy to clean. They can be used to upholster furniture.
Hides vary in size, but as a guide they are approximately 2mts long and 1.4mts wide.
The hides are a bi-product of cattle farmed for their meat in South Africa.
